A federal judge sentenced a Texas man to 76 months in federal prison for embezzling more than $800,000 from his employer and his failure to pay the IRS more than $300,000

Ryan Glenn Martinez, 55, of San Antonio, Texas, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of making and filing a false income tax return.

According to court records, Martinez was the controller of San Antonio company that manufactured and marketed detention equipment and electronics for correctional facilities.

Martinez admitted that he embezzled funds from the company by stealing checks and money orders from customer payments, as well as by stealing checks issued by health care insurers and submitting fraudulent vendor invoices for payment. Martinez admitted to making false and fraudulent entries in the books to cover up his scheme.

Martinez also admitted that he underreported to the IRS his income and income tax due for calendar years 2010 through 2014.[/vc_column_text][us_image image=”1814″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
