Florida Women Serve Prison Time for $25 million Tax Fraud Scheme

Petra Gomez and her sister, Jakeline Lumucso, operated a tax preparation firm that filed more than 16,000 false tax returns.

The total estimated loss to the IRS was $25 million. Gomez and Lumucso continually filed false returns without their clients’ consent. The women used the fraudulent money to finance extravagant lifestyles. Gomez plead guilty to tax evasion and conspiracy to defraud the government while Lumucso plead guilty to conspiracy to defraud the government.
