A Texas man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for tax evasion.
Anthony D. Klein, 48, of Whitehouse, Texas, was also ordered to pay $404,292 in restitution to the IRS.
According to court records, Klein filed an individual income tax return for 2006 that claimed he had no taxable income and that he was entitled to credits in the amount of $5,836.00.
In fact, he had taxable income of approximately $538,188.07 for tax year 2016. In filing the return, Klein intended to evade and defeat the payment of income tax due to the IRS.
Klein admitted that the tax loss for the years 2016 through 2019 was $404,292.
