A Louisiana woman was sentenced to three years of probation after pleading guilty to aiding and assisting in the filing of false tax returns.
Cynthia Bowley, 68, of Meraux, Louisiana, was a tax preparer who willfully caused false income tax returns to be filed for at least 10 of her clients. To defraud the IRS, Bowley created false business losses.
For tax years 2013 through 2018, Bowley caused a total tax loss to the United States of $251,257.
Bowley was also ordered to pay restitution.
