Florida Woman Collected $128K In False Tax Refunds

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A Florida woman was sentenced to three years and six months in federal prison for theft of government funds and access device fraud in connection with filing fraudulent tax returns.

Derraka Reed, of Tampa, Florida, pleaded guilty to the charges. She was also ordered to pay $128,740 in restitution to the IRS.

According to court records, between 2012 and 2014, Reed filed more than 100 fraudulent tax returns with the IRS, using dozens of stolen identities. In total, her fraudulent tax returns claimed more than $580,000 in tax refunds.
