Questions and Answers

Question: My son turned age 18 last year. Is he too old for the CTC?

Answer: Yes. Under the rules in effect for 2021 the Child Tax Credit is only available through age 17. However, parents can potentially still claim a smaller $500 credit for dependent children who are older, and other eligible individuals.  The $500 credit is nonrefundable and begins to phase out at $200,000 of adjusted gross income for single filers or $400,000 of AGI for joint filers.[/vc_column_text][us_image image=”3497″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
